WebbThermowood ®, also known as thermally modified wood, is modified by a process of being heated (baked) to 250 degrees in a special oven with the doors closed and the air pumped out. During this heat treatment, chemical and structural changes occur within the timber which alters and improves some of the basic characteristics. WebbWhat is thermally modified wood (Thermowood) With thermal modification, the wood is heated between 180 to 210 degrees with steam in an oxygen-depleted room without chemical agents. This heating changes the composition and structure of the wood and extends its lifespan.
