The pump body helps seal a passage. That's why people groove the distributor body to help gear wear. Its pressurized oil there. Webb23 juni 2010 · Its very minor But i was looking around and noticed theres a pipe plug in the block on driver side. There are 3 of them. I believe one of them is the plug you remove to see what rods you have. Theres a real small one like 1/8 inch thread. That small one was not tight. I went to back it out to use a sealant on the threads but poil started leaking.

Webb16 feb. 2004 · There are 2 different size plugs. "Most" early blocks, up to maybe 1986 or so, use a 1/2" plug. The newer ones are slightly smaller, can't remember the exact size. Take a straightened coathanger and stick it down through the hole where the oil pressure gauge screws in. If it comes out the bottom, you need a plug. Cranked the engine with the starter for 30 seconds (spinning faster with no plugs). Not a drop came up to the head. I'm a bit hesitant to try running it if there is no oil going up to the galley.
