Also, when I was removing the wax from a bottle of Noir last month it made a huge pop noise and the neck broke clean off just below the lip where the cap seals. The wax wasn't the cause of that but taking it off with the butter knife probably was. I assume those were probably 20 years old or stored in sunlight which damages the rubber really bad. Keep them in a cool dark place and they'll last a very very long time.
