This does not align with all the data I have for a Lucas 25D distributor which suggests it ought to be 60 degrees +/- 3 degrees. WebThe dwell-closure angle is at 36 degrees (exact middle of specified range) but the ignition points are at .019 thousands, not .027 which the book calls for. When I set the points to .027, the engine runs, but poorly. Is this a consequence of the distributor being off by 180 degrees? The car is a 1959 Mercedes-Benz Type W180 220S cabriolet. WebOct 28, 2024 · Dwell refers to the amount of time the points stay closed in the ignition cycle of the dist. It's not an angle. That being said I don't remember ever seeing a tune-up chart on a tractor listing dwell specs. Dwell seemed to come around in the late 50's thru the 80's if my memory serves me right.
