WebJul 12, 2024 · This is a small public campground next to the Copper River just 2 mile outside Chitina on the East side of the river. Go thru Chitina towards McCarthy on McCarthy Road for about 2 miles & cross the wide Copper River. 100 yds after the bridge there are two gravel turnouts, one goes left & the other goes right. WebIt is a dry campground with a good toilet. There is no charge It is located about 2 miles from Chitina on the McCarthy road, driving towards Kennecott. The first half mile is dirt, and the remainder paved using chip seal. After crossing the Chitina River bridge, drive a very short distance and take the first road to the right.
